Alan Shortall appointed to City vs Country

Parramatta Referees Alan Shortall has been appointed as one of the two referees that will control the 2015 City vs Country fixture in Wagga Wagga. Alan will assist Adam Devcich in the annual fixture that marks the end of the Rep Weekend.

Alan made his first grade debut in round 12, 2008 in the match between the North Queensland Cowboys & the Penrith Panthers. He made one more appearance in his debut season controlling the match between the Parramatta Eels vs Canberra. Since that time he has not looked back, becoming one of the most consistent referees in the top grade. Since the 2009 season (inclusive), he has refereed more than 20 NRL games each season.

The appointment to the City vs Country fixture adds to an ever expanding list of achievements in the career of Alan Shortall. He has refereed the 2003 SG Ball Grand Final, the 2005 Arrive Alive Cup Final (Schoolboys Cup), the 2006 NSW Residents vs QLD Residents and the 2006 Jim Beam Cup Grand Final. Alan has also had significant success as a Touch Judge, officiating in the 2009 NRL Finals Series, the 2009 Four Nations Series and ultimately being appointed as a Touch Judge in the Final of that competition.

We are sure that Alan will continue to maintain his consistency in the years to come as he heads towards 150 NRL games as a referee, with more representative opportunities ahead on the horizon.

In further good news for Parramatta Referees, Ashley Klein has been appointed as Video Referee for the fixture and Gavin Reynolds has been appointed as Standby Referee.

Parramatta Referees would like to congratulate these gentlemen on their appointments and am sure the game will be officiated in a first class manner.
